Why Murdoch?

You’ll see the words “Discoverers Welcome” throughout this site. Those two words pretty much sum up what we passionately believe makes our university different from others.

Rather than see our role as being a place to transfer learning from our brains to yours, we’ve built a place that encourages students to think freely; to not only learn about their chosen field of study but to add their own perspective.

How we do that is by giving our students an inspiring balance of theory and practice. Here’s a quick snapshot of what we mean:

• Murdoch’s $3.7 million Law Building has Perth’s most modern Moot Court. We try real cases in a real court environment and the latest in video technology means we also compete with other Law Schools around the world via satellite.
• Our $1.7 million Media Arts Centre features real TV and Radio studios, editing suites, post production facilities and more. If you want a job in the media, this is the place to learn (and play).
• Engineering students get real-world plant experience at Murdoch’s amazing scaled engineering plant. It’s the only one of its kind in Perth (and currently one of the only plants of its kind on any uni campus in the world).
• Students studying agriculture and biotechnology can close the books and open their minds at the State Agricultural Biotechnology Centre, providing access to incredible equipment and facilities for research and development.
• Chiropractic students at Murdoch are given arguably the best intro to a career of anyone.  Our Chiropractic Clinic is one of the best in Perth, with 11 consulting rooms and a fully equipped gym. Students here work with Government registered Chiropractors on real patients.
• For those whose passions lie with four legged creatures, Murdoch’s veterinary facilities are world famous. We currently have an entire working farm, a vet clinic open to the public, a fully equipped Veterinary Hospital (complete with Cancer and Dermatology Clinics), a Pet Emergency Centre with 'Animal ER' services, and our world class Equine Centre with WA’s only equine operating theatres.

• You’ll adapt to uni life better at Murdoch. We have a dedicated First Year Experience Coordinator.
• You’ll get more help to land the job you want at Murdoch. We have an Alumni Careers and Employment Centre on campus.
• You’ll be more satisfied at Murdoch than any other uni in WA. The Good Universities Guide has given Murdoch the highest 5 Star Rating for Overall Student Satisfaction 11 out of the past 12 years (the only uni in Perth to score that high that many times).
